Our yard was a disaster, patchy and weedy. Alex worked very hard on the repairs and I am very happy with the results.

The timing

What aeration and overseeding do for your lawn

Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil out of your lawn so water and nutrients reach the roots. Overseeding drops fresh seed into those openings. Done together in fall, they thicken thin turf before winter.

  • Your soil can take water again.

Years of mowing and foot traffic pack the ground down tight. Core aeration pulls thousands of small plugs so rain and fertilizer soak in instead of running off.

  • Thin patches fill back in.

Seed dropped into an open aeration hole sits against bare soil, which is the only way it roots. Scattered on hard ground, most of it never takes.

  • Fall does most of the work.

Cool nights, warm soil, and steady moisture are exactly what bluegrass, fescue, and ryegrass need. Seed put down in spring fights heat and crabgrass instead.

  • Fewer weeds come spring.

Thick turf crowds crabgrass out before it starts. The denser your lawn goes into winter, the less room weeds have in April.

The service

What's included

Two things, done together, in one appointment.

A GreenWorks technician running a core aerator across a lakeside lawn

Core aeration.

We run a machine across your lawn that pulls thousands of small soil plugs and leaves them on the surface to break down naturally. This opens up compacted soil so roots can breathe.

A GreenWorks LESCO broadcast spreader on a lawn lined with autumn trees

Overseeding.

Right after aeration, we spread a cool-season seed blend suited to Indiana lawns. Seed drops into the open holes for strong soil contact and better germination.

What happens on the day

  1. Plan on about an hour.

Most lawns take [VISIT DURATION, confirm with Steven]. Larger properties and yards with a lot of gates take longer.

  2. You don't need to be home.

We only need to get into the yard. [GATE AND ACCESS INSTRUCTIONS, confirm with Steven]

  3. Flag anything hidden.

Sprinkler heads, invisible fence wire, and shallow cable all sit right where the aerator pulls plugs. Mark them or tell us and we'll work around them.

  4. Then water it in.

What your neighbors are saying

Real reviews from real GreenWorks customers, pulled straight from Google.

  • Great job on slit-seeding our one-year seeded lawn to help improve the overall appearance and quality. Also, had some kind of lawn pest - army worms? - and they came out immediately and treated our lawn. I think it saved it! Very responsive and knowledgeable.

    Kent Maas

  • After purchasing a newly built home, the team came to do yard prep then seeding and our grass is much better than we could have done on our own! They come out to treat the yard on a regular schedule so I don't have to think about it and that is very nice with a packed schedule. Thank you for all you do!

    Tiffany Griffith

  • We have been plagued the last couple of years with grubs destroying our lawn and leaving dead patches. We had GreenWorks treat our lawn just a month ago and I've already seen a considerable improvement to the look and health of our lawn.

    Bridget Camden

  • First year using Greenworks Lawn Solutions for lawn and pest control and I couldn't be more pleased. Prior I was using a large national lawn treatment company. No weeds, no bugs and the lawn looks great!

    Tim & Jen Hagenbuch

    Phill Harris

  • This is the first time I have used a lawn service instead of applying products myself and I have been extremely happy with the results. My yard looks green and lush. I had been fighting weeds for several years and they have slowly disappeared.

    Jim Rose

  • For years I purchased lawn products to apply myself only to end up disappointed. Since using GreenWorks I no longer have to worry about timing an application and wasting my money. They had my lawn at my old home looking perfect.

    Gavin Tripp

  • Working with Steven has been great so far. He is responsive, helpful, highly knowledgeable, and honest. He charges a fair price and didn't try to upsell me on anything (to the contrary he specifically recommended i go with one of the cheaper service plans).

    Matt Tedesco

  • Very happy with Green Works. They do quality work. I have used this company for over 6 yrs now. We are Very happy long time customers.

    Sheri Mudrack

The questions

Questions we get asked

What does core aeration actually do?
It pulls thousands of small plugs of soil out of your lawn and leaves them on top to break down. That opens up packed ground so air, water, and fertilizer reach the roots instead of sitting on the surface.
Why aerate in the fall instead of the spring?
Cool-season grasses germinate best in fall's warm soil and cool nights, and they get a full season to root before summer. Seed put down in spring competes with heat and crabgrass instead.
How much does aeration and overseeding cost?
Most lawns in our area run $425 to $575. New customers take 20% off that through this offer. Every quote is based on your actual lawn size, so call or fill out the form and we'll give you a real number.
How long does the visit take?
[VISIT DURATION, confirm with Steven] for most lawns. You don't need to be home for it.
When will I see a difference?
[RESULTS TIMELINE, confirm with Steven] New seed needs consistent moisture to germinate, so the watering matters more than anything else you do.
Do you service my area?
We cover Kosciusko, Whitley, and southwest Allen counties, including Warsaw, Pierceton, Winona Lake, Syracuse, Leesburg, Columbia City, and the Aboite area. Not sure? Call (574) 549-3650 and we'll tell you straight.
